Cause changes the way the world looks at charitable giving. The Cause model makes giving more convenient, fun, and transparent for the general population. By bringing charitable giving into day to day living, we break down barriers and allow more people to be involved. At the same time,Cause provides much-needed exposure and funds for featured organizations, allowing them to scale their impact to beneficiaries they had not previously been able to reach.

The Situation

Given the difficult financial climate, many people currently face a tough choice between charitable giving and day-to-day activities. Overall giving is well below previous levels and a recent survey indicated that 68% of individual donors will cut back on giving in the near future due to economic uncertainty or personal financial blows (Chronicle of Philanthropy). In addition, people have very busy schedules that don't allow them to spend as much time volunteering as they would like. People sincerely want to help but struggle to find an easy way to get involved in an impactful and fulfilling way.

The Status Quo

The financial and time constraints of givers constantly force charitable organizations to spend much of their limited time asking people for donations and writing grant proposals rather than delivering services. On the other hand, bars and restaurants are operated for profit, have a continuous flow of customers, and, when successful, can generate significant profits.

The Cause model flips the script by taking this popular business and using it to generate funds for top performing organizations while, at the same time, offering its patrons a reason to feel good about where their dollars are going.

Cause is completely self-sustaining and will not require donations to achieve its mission. It is our goal to create a movement through the Cause brand that will help change the status quo associated with charitable giving.

The Future

Cause Washington DC is only the beginning. We think that we are onto something big and have a model that can go global. We hope to expand and see Cause bars around the world, continuing to create impact in this unique manner. We hope that this brief introduction gets you as excited about Cause as we are.
